Meet this year’s CAs

Every year, there is a team of 8 CAs (Campus Community Advisors) Chinese students carefully selected to provide support and guidance to international students new to China and our Nanyan campus. They plan events, hold regular Chinese Corners, and serve as go-to people for student with questions or issues on campus, on more generally in Shenzhen or China. Get to know them each a little better below.

Favorite place in Shenzhen: Shenzhen Bay Park, Tanglang Mountain, Xichong Beach

Why did you join the CA program?
I want to talk to people from different parts of the world, get their insights and share my views. CA program is an excellent chance for me to know them more and have deep conversations. We held various events and help them settle down. From this process, I can know better of the international students and even the world. Some of them will remain lifelong friends.

Advice for internationals: Mix with the Chinese students, starting from your classmates. They want to talk to international students but they are too shy to start a conversation. Ask your Chinese classmates to help you with your travel plans. It is a perfect chance to become friends with them.

I hope to be friends with all the international students and help them when they need me. I would like to communicate with foreigners even though I’m not skilled in English. I’m eager to know what you all think of China and what its drawbacks are that to need to be improved. I’d also like to share different cultures, learn from the excellent international students and hope to behave like a native English speaker though it’s quite tough.

A final word for internationals: I hope you can enjoy your valuable time on this campus and make more Chinese friends. I’m very glad to teach you Chinese and answer any questions concerning Chinese culture and social questions in China. Actually, it is not teaching but communicating.

At the very beginning, the reason I joined the CA program was that I wanted to make friends with international students. But now, after I participated in this program for over a year, I think there are more reasons that I choose to stay. One reason is that we CAs are a harmony team; we cooperate with each other, and we share the same belief that our work can really provide some convenience for international students. It’s fulfilling when you know that your work is meaningful.
