Years of hard work and perseverance finally paid off last weekend for the 893 graduating full-time students of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. Friends and family from all over China — and even some international guests, joined in the celebration at the 2018 PKU Commencement Ceremony that was held on July 7 at the HSBC Business School Building.
The audience enjoyed performances by the Nanyan Choir, Nanyan Street Dance Team, and the Nanyan Dance Group.
Speakers included: Liu Xinyu, graduating student from the School of Transnational Law, representing students; Xu Nan, Associate Professor at the School of Environment and Energy, on behalf of the faculty; Li Wei, founding partner of Song He Capital, and chairman of ShenZhen-HongKong Industry Research and Venture Capital Limited Company, on behalf of PKU alumni; PKU Shenzhen Chancellor Wu Yundong; and Executive Vice-President of Peking University, Gao Song.

In 2018, 34 international students earned master’s degrees. Eduardo Meythaler attended the commencement ceremony and was recognized as an ‘Outstanding Graduate’.
Graduating students took the words to heart and savored the moment to reflect on their years at PKU Shenzhen.
And of course, photos had to be taken with friends and family before a final parting from Nanyan.
