- The first dish to look for is 金沙鲜虾红米肠 (Red Rice Sausage with Shrimp). Arguably the best dish on the menu, the crunchy shrimp and rice pancake has a unique texture and taste. The rolls come with both sesame and red bean dipping sauces. 34RMB
- The second must order dish is 沙爹钱肚 (Honeycomb Tripe) . A traditional Guangdong dish, this extremely chewy bite looks like a fried beehive. Dripping with sauce, it is a local favorite among the yum cha regulars. 32RMB
- A favorite of the author, 生煎韭菜饺 ( Fried Chive and Leek dumplings) are packed with flavour. These huge dumplings are the perfect ‘safe option’ for the less adventurous reader. They come with a chilli dipping sauce and are sure to help satisfy those with a more substantial hunger. 20RMB
- Although not a Guangdong dish, 上海小笼包(Shanghai Soup Dumplings)are a must try for those unfamiliar with Chinese delicacies. Each dumpling is masterfully prepared with a delicious soup and pork filling. But be careful! Eating these dumplings requires a unique process: First place it on your spoon, then take a small bite into the skin and suck up all the brilliant gelatine juices as they come streaming out, finally finish off the rest of the dumpling. 28RMB
- As for dessert, you simply cannot look past 香芒夹心椰汁糕 (fragrant Coconut Mango Sandwich). This jelly-like dessert is a perfect way to conclude a yum cha experience. The dish is not too sweet, and it leaves a fresh taste in your mouth. 24RMB
Upon finishing your feast of traditional Guangdong dim sum, collect the receipt that is stapled to your menu, walk to the counter and settle the bill.
Etiquette to remember
1. You must pour tea to others before pouring your own.
2. It is rude to have a full cup of tea, tea should be poured until roughly 80% full.
3. Tap two fingers twice on the table when someone pours tea into our cup to say thank you.
